Dear readers and contributors,
I want to start once again by thanking you all for the warm response that Soft Star has received in its first month of existence. When I started this project, I truly never expected to receive so many wonderful submissions within the first month, and I also never expected to amass such a strong readership. I am truly grateful to everyone who has submitted their work, and to the subscribers who choose to read that work multiple times a week.
That all being said, I’ll get down to business: Issue One is coming along beautifully! Every piece that has been published on Soft Star so far (and several that will be published in the near future!) will be featured in the print edition, along with some print-exclusive visual artwork. The issue so far contains a lot of short fiction and quite a bit of poetry, but only one nonfiction piece. I’d love to see more nonfiction in the issue, from CNF to interviews and profiles to book and film reviews!
I would also love to see more visual art submissions! Whether it’s photography, traditional media, digital media, or even AI art, these pieces set the visual tone of the issue and set the print edition apart from this newsletter.
Finally, in my previous note about the print issue I mentioned that I would eventually set a cutoff date for submissions to be considered for Issue One, after which new submissions would be considered for Issue Two. I have decided that the cutoff will be Sunday, October 16th. All submissions sent on or before that date (based on the submitter’s local time zone) will be considered for Issue One!
As for when to expect the print issue, I hope to have it ready some time in November. All contributors will receive a free copy of the issue, and I will update you all later regarding how to get a copy if you’re not a contributor.
That’s all for now. Thanks again, everyone, and happy reading!
Until next time,
Miranda
